POSTGRADUATES:  8 postgraduate students per year

  • The aim of the programme is to provide advanced education in the subject of conservative dentistry and endodontics to  qualified graduate dentists who are interested in a career of specialized practice, teaching and research.
  • To train the postgraduate students with higher standards of  clinical dentistry and excel in the subject with evidence based dentistry
  • Students are assessed through regular seminars, journal club and case presentations and clinical chair side viva
  • The treatment rendered by the post graduates include complex amalgam and composite restorations (Pin and bonded), bleaching of vital and nonvital teeth, veneering, cast restorations (Inlays, Onlays, Crown), Root canal treatments, hemisection, apicectomy, splinting, esthetic rehabilitations and microsurgeries

Waste disposal

  • The bio-medical waste generated is segregated based on the following categories: Anatomical waste, sharps, solid waste and chemical waste. These are disposed in their respective color coded containers/bags.
  •  These are collected on regular basis and disposed by the local bio medical waste management, according   to the regulations of pollution control board of Karnataka state.

UNDERGRADUATE SECTION

ANNUAL CURRICULUM

  • UNDERGRADUATES:  100 STUDENTS PER YEAR

The undergraduate curriculum involves teaching of 3 subjects:
1) Dental materials (restorative aspect)
2) Conservative Dentistry: Involves preclinical and clinical exercises
3) Endodontics

  • II year BDS
    • Dental materials –deals with chemistry, physical properties, manipulation and recent development of various restorative materials.
    • Preclinical operative Dentistry
  • III year BDS
    • One theory class per week
    • Clinical postings they learn
  •  Class I cavity preparations followed by restoration of the same with amalgam
  •  Deep caries excavation followed by Indirect pulp capping
  •  Class II cavity preparations followed by amalgam restoration
  • GIC Class V restorations
  • IV year BDS
    • 2 theory classes per week
    • Clinical postings they learn
      • Class II cavity preparations followed by restoring the same with amalgam
      • Anterior R.C.T
      • Composites and GIC restorations
  • INTERNSHIP:
  • Management of  O.P.D.
  • Class I  ,Class II , Class III,  IV, V restorations with amalgam, GIC & composites as indicated
  • Management of deep carious lesions & temporary restorations
  • Root canal treatments 

ASSESSMENT PROGRAMME-

  • Periodic viva and exams are conducted

Programs for UG students
Odontoplexus nexgen an intercollegiate interns programme was conducted on 22nd of march by the members of UG course committee first of such event at our college. The intention is to conduct the event every other year.  Ten colleges in and around Bangalore   participated. 41 interns from other colleges and 68 interns from our college registered for the event.  The guest lecture by Dr Srivats Bardawaj Pedodontist was on future scope for dentistry. 15 delegates participated for paper presentation and 10 for poster presentation. Dr Rabindra S Nayak orthodontist from GDC and Dr Kenneth from our college were the quiz masters. The programme was sponsored by Viha online portal and gifts sponsored by 3M and Colgate.

DEPARTMENT LIBRARY
Department is having a dedicated library consisting of 189 books which includes speciality and basic sciences. Along with PG dissertations and library dissertations and seminars for references and video presentations in CD format.
