TEACHING METHODS IN PRACTICE
Teaching methods in practice includes lectures using power point presentations; clinical chair side training; clinical case discussion and problem solving; audio visual aids using charts, models and posters; demonstrations; group discussions; tutorials; chapter wise test; text book discussions; library card presentations; bridge courses; problem based modules; individual question – answer sessions; conduction and participation in CDE Programmes; seminars and journal clubs; periodic evaluation and review of teaching and learning.

LEARNING METHODS FOLLOWED

UNDER GRADUATE LEARNING METHODS:
Students complete preclinical exercises before they start clinical work. Demonstrations for the clinical procedures are given during the clinical postings. Group discussions and viva-voce are also conducted on a regular basis. Mentorship is practiced; where-in the students are divided into different groups under guidance of one faculty member. All students are monitored on a regular basis, and they are evaluated periodically. Supervision of the treatment rendered by students and interns.

POSTGRADUATE LEARNING METHODS:
Methods adopted for postgraduate learning includes text book review; article review; seminars and journal clubs; pilot study prior to  dissertation; Library dissertation; short research projects, school and community camps; dental health education programmes. 

Preclinical work for first year postgraduate students includes working on phantom heads. On completion of preclinical work postgraduate students start their specialized clinical training in Pedodontics that comprises of case history recording followed by discussion and treatment planning; management of the child patient by carrying out different types of specialty treatments in primary and young permanent teeth; Application of newer alternative recent concepts in treatment options; Complete oral rehabilitation of case discussed; Pediatric dental practice management; Management and treatment of medically compromised children; Training in providing treatment for children under Conscious sedation and General anesthesia
