School Dental Health Programme

The Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry conducts oral health education programs. A team of pediatric dentists provide dental screening and treatment at various schools, including institutions for children with special health care needs.  Emphasis is given on the importance of practicing good oral hygiene, and following a healthy diet. Teachers and parents are also involved in these programs to promote ‘happy smiles and healthy mouths’. Children and teachers are educated on dental trauma and regarding care of an avulsed tooth.  Demonstrations are regularly given on proper brushing and flossing techniques. Oral hygiene aids such as tooth brushes and tooth pastes are distributed once a year to the school children. Throughout the year our school oral health activities benefit thousands of children from different socioeconomic sections.
