The Oxford Polytechnic

Preamble:

The Oxford Polytechnic was established in the year 1986 by sri, S. Narasa Raju, the Founder Chairman under the aegis of Children’s Education Society®. Sri, S. Narasa Raju is an educationist and is recipient of Rajiv Gandhi award in 1996 for excellence in establishment and development of educational institutions.

With an objective to achieve excellence in Technical studies. THE OXFORD POLYTECHNIC is affiliated to the Board of Technical Examinations and approved by A.I.C.T.E New Delhi. It offer Eight Courses headed by Principal and coordinated by Six HOD's, who plan, supervise, develop and organize the academic programmes.

In a span of Eighteen years the polytechnic has developed and upgraded its laboratories, workshops and Lecture classes with Infrastructure & Equipment as per A.I.C.T.E / B.T.E guidelines to cater to the students needs. The students have consistently achieved Ranks, Distinctions and First classes in all the Courses since its inception.

The Oxford Polytechnic is affiliated to the Board of Technical Examinations, Government of Karnataka and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E). The following 3-year diploma courses are offered.

Eligibility for Admission:

As per letter No. DTE 04 ACM(2) 2007 dated 05/05/2007

  1. Diploma in Engineering Course: The student should have passed SSLC or equivalent examinations and should have scored 35% Marks in Mathematics and 35% in Science in SSLC or equivalent examination.
  2. Diploma in Non-Engineering Course: The student should have passed SSLC or equivalent examinations.
  3. NRI and Foreign Students: The Exam passed should be SSLC or Equivalent. Please see foot note (2).

FOOT NOTE:

1)

  1. The eligibility conditions stipulated in a) and b) above is applicable to all categories namely, General Category, SC, ST, Category I, IIa, IIb, IIIa, IIIb, rural category and Physically Handicapped.
  2. The candidate should have studied in any of the Karnataka Govt. approved institution from 1st Standard to 10th Standard at least for a period of 5 years. The five years study certificate should be counter signed by the Jurisdictional Block Education Officer.
  3. The candidates who have migrated to karnataka from other states are not aligible to enjoy the reservation Policy of Karnataka Government.

2) NRI and Foreign Students should obtain

    1. SSLC or Equivalent Exams Marks Card should be submitted in original, if the grades are alotted in the SSLC or Equivalent Exams, the actual marks should be obtained from competent aithority and furnished.
    2. The Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. This will be on payment basis and the student will have to bear the expenditure. The prescribed fee is $100 (American Dollors) payable in Indian rupees and the papers will be processed by the Management.
    3. ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the respective Government of the candidate.
    4. ‘The Eligibility Certificate’ issued by The Director of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka. The Eligibility Certificate fee for Non-Karnataka students is Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) and for NRI students it is Rs. 1000/- (One Thousand only). The last date for issue of eligibility certificate is 30-06-2007.

3) The Candidate seeking admission to Diploma in Automobile Engineering should have completed 16 years     of age as on 1st July of the admission year i.e. 2007. All other conditions are as stipulated above will     apply.

Tutions Fees:

The following are the Tution fees payable as prescribed by the Government of Karnataka

 

 

Admission Procedure:

Admission notice is given in all leading News Papers immediately after the KSEEB – SSLC exam results are announced. Normally this would be in the month of April / May of the admission year. Application in the prescribed form for admission (enclosed with this prospectus) should reach the principal within the prescribed time by the Board of Technical Examinations accompanied by attested copies of the following documents:-

Statement of marks in SSLC or equivalent examinations.
Transfer Certificate from Institution last attended.
5 (five) years study Certificate before SSLC or Equivalent examinations - in case  of Karnataka students.
Eligibility Certificate obtained by Director of Technical Education, Government of  Karnataka (in case of Non – Karnataka students only).
6 Nos. of Passport and 6 Nos. stamp size Photographs.

The seats will be allocated on the basis of merit in the qualifying examinations and based on an interview before the selection committee. The above-mentioned original certificates along with two attested copies should be deposited at the time of admission. These docments are absolutely necessary to get the admission approved by The Director of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.

The admission to First Semester Diploma courses is made subject to Bangalore jurisdiction only.

SYLLABUS:

The syllabus followed by the Polytechnic is prepared by curriculum Development cell, world Bank Project, Dept. of Technical Education and implemented by the Board of Technical Education.

The syllabus for Diploma Programme has been formulated to give the students a thorough knowledge in all aspects of Engineering. The subject concerned will enable the student to develop oral and written communication skills as well as skills in specific areas such as planning design and development and execution of Projects. The syllabus copies are variable in the Polytechnic Library for reference.

ATTENDANCE:

The student will have to satisfy the minimum attendance requirement as stipulated by the Board of Technical Examinations. The minimum attendance of 75% in each subject during the academic year is mandatory. The student who does no fulfill this requirement will not be allowed to take up the Annual Board Examinations.

The institutions will maintain regular record of Theory and Practical class work and internal assessment examinations will be maintained by the institutions. The performance of the students in internal assessment tests, pre-final Examinations along with attendance report will be sent to their parents for information and corrective action if any. Internal assessment marks are reflected in the marks card issued by the B.T.E.

DISCIPLINE AND DRESS CODE:

The oxford Polytechnic expects a high level of discipline and decorum from students which shows up in a disciplined approach. Both boys and girls shall wear prescribed formal dress comprising brown blazer, Cream shirt, Beige pant etc. on every Monday and Saturday of the week. They shall wear Khaki shirt and pant for the workshop classes.

Any violation in maintaining discipline shall be dealt with as deemed fit.

IDENTITY CARD:

The Polytechnic students will be issued Identity cards to prove their identity as a bonafide student. The students should carry the identity card and produce when demanded by the authorities.

COMMENCEMENT OF ACADEMIC SESSION

The Board of Technical examinations have introduced 'Semester Scheme' from the academic year 2003-2004. The annual scheme for II and III year is also being conducted simultaneously. The following are the 'Calendar of Events' for 2004 - 2005.
