The primary intention of the computer laboratory is to provide the
staff members and students, a high – speed campus wide network that connects
all the departments with ready access to computing resources, services, softwares
and applications. The campus is WI-FI enabled. The college has signed Microsoft
campus agreement, which enables to get all latest versions of Microsoft products.
The computing facilities include nearly 950 highly configured systems - housed
under centrally air conditioned environment, 47 printers, 2 scanners, OHPs, LCDs,
etc.
With the awareness about the explosive development in the field of
Information technology, the central computing facility intends to impart the most
basic and advanced concepts of computers to the students. The facility incorporates
networking lab, linux lab, C programming lab, DBMS lab, Graphics lab and Internet
lab, with more than 150 high end systems. Every computer lab is manned with a
lab in-charge and a lab assistant, and the systems are monitored periodically.
The department owns various licensed softwares which includes Windows XP, Windows
2005 server, UNIX, Fedora Core 3, MS Office 2005, IBM’s Websphere, Oracle,
Auto CAD, Visual Studio, .NET, etc..
The heart of the central computing
facility is the ‘administrator only’ area – the server room,
which is 24hours air conditioned and isolated for avoiding Server break down. The
server room having Linux, windows NT and proxy servers.
The VHDL Lab maintained
by the Electronics and Communication Department is known for its state of the
art facilities. The laboratory provides a solid foundation for the budding professionals
to cope up with the present industrial requirements. The lab has software tools
like QUARTUS 5.2 and houses FPGA kits for integrated design.
The CAD/CAM
lab flaunts of its affluence, providing latest drafting, modeling and analysis
softwares like AUTO CAD, CATIA and ANSYS to enable the students to practice independently.
The softwares for structural and thermal analysis, helps the students learn more
of the needed, in the current industrial scenario.
