Mechanical Engineering is the most versatile and
fundamental branch of Engineering comprising Production,
Thermal and Design streams. Increasing competition,
changing economic scenario and complex technological
breakthrough has widened the scope of the Mechanical
branch of engineering. Due to continued changes
in technology manufacturing methodologies, the
students learn and use state of the art machines
and methodologies to keep pace with the modern
world. The present economic librelisation, subsidies
to the manufacturing and Agro based industries
have given further boost to mechanical engineering.
The Mechanical Engineering department possesses
the required infrastructure and the right expertise
to impart training to students in the latest
manufacturing technologies. We offer rigorous
training to students with individual attention
in laboratories, facilitate classroom discussions.
Seminars, Industrial visits further continuous
Industry- Institution interactions and have
resulted in dramatic impact on the quality of
students to face the challenges of future. We
have conducted recently a National Conference
FEM-08 successfully.
The Mechanical Engineering Department has been
recognized recently as Research & Development
centre by V T U from the academic year 2008-09.
We are also hopeful of getting a PG centre from
academic year 2008-09 in Thermal Engineering.
Laboratories:
All laboratories
possess good quality and most advanced equipments
with well trained and experienced staff.
Mechanical engineering is basic to any industrial
activity and industrial sector in general. Mechanical
engineers in
i Production &
Manufacturing Industries
ii Agro based&
Processing Industry
iii Software Industry
iv Foundry Industries
have good opportunities for employment and
are very much sought after. The mechanical department
has a team of highly qualified, experienced
and dedicated faculty headed by Dr.Suneel Kumar
N Kulkarni who has to his credit many National
and International Publications. He has guided
many UG, PG projects and many Doctoral aspirants.
The Department has obtained approval from AICTE
for starting M.Tech. in Thermal Power Engineering
from the academic year 2008-09.
