Faculty of The Oxford Academy of Nursing Sciences

The faculty of nursing ensures excellent teaching & learning environment for the students in both Theoritical & practical instruction. Each department has a head to organize the entire programme of their department.
 

PRINCIPAL:

Dr. G. KASTHURI

Graduated from Government College of Nursing. Had Master Degree from Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College, New Delhi and Ph.D., from Bangalore University. Has 34 Years of experience, both in clinical area and teaching. Worked in various capacity from Staff Nurse level to Principal level. As a Principal in Government College of Nursing from 1st March 1998 to 31st March 2005, as a Professor from 1st December 1999 to 2005, Asst. Professor from 12th August 1993 to Nov 1999. Worked as Chairperson in RGUHS for UG Programme, PG Programme, Board of Examiners, Dean Faculty of Nursing, Syndicate Senate and Academic Council Member, Programme Incharge of B.Sc (N) in IGNOU. Examiner of various university of India for UG & PG Programme. Life Member of TNAI, NRSI worked as a Joint Secretary, Treasurer of TNAI and President and Secretary of Teachers Association, Inspector of INC, LIC, KNC and Government of Karnataka, Received Florence Nightingale Award in 2001. Published various articles and presented scientific paper in the TNAI and NRSI Conference.

 
VICE PRINCIPAL:

Prof. G. THILAGAVATHY

Had her Master of Science in Nursing from C.M.C. Vellore with Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing as Specializtion with first class. Has got 20 Years of vast experience both in clinical & teaching. Teaching and supervising experience of staff at various levels as Nursing Supervisor at Jeddah Kidney Center, King Fahd Hospital, Ministry of Health, Jeddah, K.S.A., from 1989 - 1996. She is a recipient of President Silver Medal for the best out going student 1984.

High level of discipline are expected from the students at all occasion & prescribed dress code for Theoritical & clinical are followed.

The Management seriously deals ragging in any form from punishment to dismissal.

STUDENT HEALTH PROGRAMME:

The holistic health programme & complete medical check on admission & thereafter every year along with epidemiological vaccination programme.

STUDENT WELFARE PROGRAMME:

To develop all round potential in the students, counseling & guidance are given for academic, carrier, interpersonal relationship & excellence are provided.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION:

The active Alumni Association of Nursing, aims to promote espirit decorps, research activities & better placement for the Alumni members.

STUDENT CLUBS:

Various clubs like Journal, Science, recreational, health clubs are provided to improve overall performance of students.

STUDENT NURSES ASSOCIATION:

There is an active Student Nurses Association Unit, which encourages & support students to participate in state & national level to when overall price in SNA Competitions. All students shall enroll themselves as member of the SNA.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME:

It prepares the students to gain skill in community participation, group living & sharing responsibilities by organizing special camp at state & national level in line with University regulations.
