Dear
Participants,
The 21st century
is poised for innovations and technological developments.
The last decade of the 20th century has witnessed a proliferation
of numerous terms with the suffix ‘omics’ included
in broad term molecular medicine. Molecular diagnostics, a
driving force for drug development, is one of the most promising
areas in the pharmaceutical world.
Molecular diagnostics
are increasingly used in the areas of genetic disorders, hepatitis,
preimplantation screening and cancer applications. Molecular
diagnostic technologies are also involved in development of
personalized medicine based on pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics.
The scientific
community is progressing quite rapidly in developing molecular
diagnostics with the aid of several PCR-based technologies,
FISH, peptide nucleic acids (PNA), biochips, Nanotechnology
and Proteomic technologies. Therefore, these technologies
play an important role in the practice of medicine, public
health, pharmaceutical industry, forensics and biological
warfare.
Jnanarjana 2007, A National Symposium on ‘Breakthrough
in Molecular Diagnostics’ to be conducted on 22nd &
23rd March 2007, is therefore organized to give the students
a first hand comprehensive insight into the field of molecular
diagnostics from renowned speakers from various backgrounds.
This symposium is hosted by The PG Department of Life Science,
The Oxford College of Science, Bangalore.
Jnana, The knowledge is eternal and grows with sharing. Jnanarjana2007
aims at empowering students and faculty with the thoughts
and knowledge from eminent speakers from the Academia as well
as industry. This symposium will provide a platform for the
young minds to interact and share their views with a more
open and free mind so as to develop a better perception about
the industrial requirements. The symposium is spread over
two days –Day one will comprise of Keynote address and
technical session in the field of Molecular diagnostics. Day
Two will consist of competitive events for evaluating the
sporting and challenging skills of the participants to make
the symposium more interactive. The star event of Day two
would be a Panel discussion between eminent speakers from
both academia and industry.
We believe that this symposium would truly be an excellent
opportunity for the participants to imbibe knowledge and take
back sweet memories with a more clear and focused mind at
the end of the day.
Wishing you all the best
Organizing Committee
